So, I thought, why not, let’s try one of those free 32 card tarot readings I kept seeing pop up. It’s free, what’s to lose, right? Just another thing to click through on the internet when you’re bored.
Honestly, most of these online fortune things are a bit of a laugh. They tell you what you wanna hear, or they’re so vague it could mean anything to anyone. This 32 card spread, though, sounded a bit more specific, so I figured I’d give it a proper go.
My Go at the 32 Cards
First off, I found a site pretty easily. They all look the same, you know? Click here, think about your question, all that jazz. The instructions were clear: “Quiet your mind, be neutral.” Yeah, right. Like I can just switch off my brain, especially when I’m kinda hoping for some good news, or at least something interesting.
Anyway, I tried. Took a few deep breaths. Then you do the whole shuffling thing, clicking a button over and over. Felt a bit silly, shuffling digital cards, but hey, part of the process. Then it was time to lay them out. They had this specific pattern, a spread, they called it. Each spot where a card landed was supposed to mean something different. Like:
- Your past influences.
- What’s happening right now.
- What might be coming up.
- Stuff that’s blocking you.
You get the picture. Pretty standard layout, I guess, even with 32 cards which seemed like a lot but also not as many as some other decks I’ve heard about.
Trying to Make Sense of It
Then the cards showed up. All these images and symbols. I started reading the interpretations they gave for each card in its position. Some of it was like, “Oh, okay, I can kinda see that.” But other parts? Total nonsense, or so generic it was useless. One card apparently meant magnificence and proving my own value, whatever that’s supposed to mean in my day-to-day. Sounded grand, though.
I remember reading somewhere that if you’re anxious or already have an answer stuck in your head, the reading can be way off. And well, I was a bit curious, maybe a tiny bit anxious about a couple of things going on. So, who knows if I messed it up just by thinking too much. They say you gotta be neutral, not looking for a specific outcome. That’s a tough ask, isn’t it?
It felt like trying to piece together a puzzle where the pieces don’t quite fit. You could twist ’em and turn ’em to make a picture, but it wasn’t a clear one. This card says good things are coming, that card says watch out. Pick one, I guess.
You know, I did one of these things a while back when I was feeling really stuck. Can’t remember if it was 32 cards or some other number, they all blur into one. And one card said something about “unexpected help.” A few days later, a friend called me out of the blue and actually helped me with a problem I was having. Coincidence? Probably. But for a hot minute, I thought, “Huh, maybe there’s something to this.”
But then again, most times it’s just… cards. Pictures on a screen. For this 32 card reading, did I find any earth-shattering truths? Nah. Was it a fun way to spend 10 minutes? Sure, why not. I wouldn’t base any big life decisions on it, that’s for sure. It’s more like a mirror; you see what you want to see, or what you’re already thinking, just reflected back at you in fancy pictures.
